01 · The estate and the day
Ashcombe Lane, Little Ashcombe, Gloucestershire, in the Cotswolds. The film on the homepage starts on the lane.
Between 40 and 150 for the day, all seated for dinner in the tithe barn, and up to 50 more for the evening, so 200 on the dance floor. Summer Saturdays are charged for at least 60 day guests.
At the end of the jetty on the mere, under an arch of white roses, with benches for 150 and the house across the water behind you. In summer you can also marry in the walled garden.
Yes. Mayfold is licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships on the jetty, in the walled garden and in the barn. You book the registrars yourselves with the county register office, and we'll tell you who to call. Celebrant-led ceremonies are just as welcome.
The ceremony moves into the barn, under the oak trusses, and drinks move into the great hall in the House, with the fire lit. We make the call together at 9am on the day, and the team can turn the barn round in under an hour.
Vows at noon on the jetty, drinks on the lawn at 6pm, dinner in the barn at 7pm, the bar from 9pm, and pizza from the courtyard oven at 11pm.
02 · Staying
Yes. A Mayfold wedding is always exclusive use from Friday to Sunday, with every bed on the estate. That's the point: nobody has to drive home.
48: 24 in the House (12 en-suite rooms, including the bridal suite), 18 in the four cottages round the yard, and 6 in the Hayloft bunks above the barn.
Keys from 2pm on Friday. The rooms are yours until Sunday lunch is over, and everyone leaves by 4pm.
Linen, towels, toiletries, and breakfast on both mornings for everyone staying.
When you book, we send you a list of inns and B&Bs within fifteen minutes, with local taxi numbers, so you can pass it on with the invitations.
Yes. Dogs are welcome in the Dairy and the Forge. They stay in the cottages, not in the House or up the Hayloft stair.
Yes, everywhere except the Hayloft, which is for over-12s. Cots are free on request.
The Stables cottage is all on one floor, with a level-access shower. The House has a ground-floor bedroom with a level-access shower, and the path to the barn is paved all the way. The Hayloft is up a stair and isn't step-free.
03 · Food, drink and suppliers
£110 per day guest covers canapés, three courses, half a bottle of wine, a toast and evening food. Evening-only guests are £30 each. Friday supper and Sunday lunch are quoted with the rest at your tasting.
No. One kitchen cooks the whole weekend, from Friday supper to Sunday lunch. Your cake can come from anyone you like.
Every one: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies. We go through each guest's needs at your tasting, and the chef plates them by name.
Yes, for the two of you in the house kitchen, about three months before. It's included.
You can bring your own wine and fizz for the meal, with a corkage charge of £15 a bottle. The bar is always ours.
Yes: photographers, florists, bands, stylists, whoever you love. We'll also send you a short list of people who already know the estate.
04 · The party
Music in the barn until midnight, and the bar until 12.30am. After that, the fire pit in the cottage yard stays lit for anyone still up.
Yes, in the barn. There's a stage corner with power, and the band can load in through the cart doors on Saturday morning.
Petal confetti is fine anywhere outside, and sparklers are fine on the lawn. No sky lanterns or fireworks, for the sake of a 1640 oak roof and the swans on the mere.
Yes, in glass hurricanes or holders. Candlelit dinners are what the barn is for.
05 · Booking and paying
Estate hire for both nights runs from £8,500 to £16,500, by season and day. Food and drink are added on your numbers. The dates sheet under Prices gives you a rough total in seconds.
A quarter of the estate hire holds the date. The rest is due eight weeks before. Enquiring is no obligation, and the date isn't held until you say so.
Up to three years ahead. We marry on Fridays and Saturdays.
Viewings run Monday to Thursday, 10am to 4pm, and there's an open evening on the first Thursday of each month.
Yes. One coordinator looks after you from the day you book to Sunday lunch, with a final planning meeting six weeks before.
You can move your date once, free of charge, to any free date within 12 months. The deposit isn't refundable if you cancel, so we recommend wedding insurance.
Yes, on the gravel by the barn for about 40 cars. Cars can stay overnight and be collected on Sunday.
Yes. Leave your names, your email, roughly when and roughly how many guests, and the 15-page brochure opens straight away and comes to you by email: the estate, the rooms, the food and the prices for every season. It's under Brochure at the top of the page, or ask Clemmie to send it from the chat.
